Cleaning

Socializing

Training

Pigs are famous for messing in their carrier when they are in a moving vehicle, and most of the pigs we have recieved have been kept outside and are filthy because of that. So the first thing that happens when they come in is get a bath. This also gives us the opportunity to get a good look at their skin to see if there cuts, scrapes, sun burn, and animal bites. During this time we also file their nails if nessisary,

Socializing it an important part of every rescue, no matter what the circumstances invloving their rescue. Socializing is building trust with humans. When a pig came from a loving home this process is easier, but this part is intercal part to be able to proceesed to the final part of the pigs rehabilitaion, this trust building allows the pig to be receptive to training. When a pig has come from an abusive or neglectful  situation socializing becomes even more important. We take the time to show the pig the love he or she desperately needs. This again allows the pig to be open and recptive to training and thus be ready for thit forever family.

Once we have checked the pigs skin we address whatever issues maybe going on there. Then we take them for a vet check, and get their shots if needed. Also at this time, depending on age, we will get the pig spayed or neutered.

Wellness

A lot of the time we train the pig for their forever family in mind. We have had many pigs trained to be service pigs. Service pigs are compariable to serivce dogs, and they are very benifical to people who are in need and have allergies to cats and dogs.

For other pigs who will not become a service animal they get trained as well. Pigs are very smart and teaching them how to do tricks is easy once you have built trust.
